Our story

We open the door
to the real China.

Our hosts are working Beijing masters — people who do this every day.

The world is more curious about China than it has been in a generation — its culture, its cities, and the technology now reshaping daily life. Yet most visitors still get the same day: a bus, a wall, a palace, a queue. Magnificent, and barely the country.

VIVA CHINA exists to let you in — to the China people actually live in, not the one you photograph from a coach window. We work with practising local masters and turn what they do every day into small, hands-on experiences you can genuinely join, in English, without the tour-bus circuit. Over time we’ll grow across China’s cities and into its remarkable technology. We begin in Beijing — at the tea table and the medicine hall, in the courtyards and parks, on bicycles threading the old lanes at dawn.

Real people, doing real things, sharing them properly — not a performance staged for cameras.

Who it’s for

We built VIVA CHINA for the independent traveler — the kind of person who would rather make something than photograph it. Many of our guests are visiting on China’s visa-free transit, with a few precious days in the capital and no desire to waste them in a queue. Whether you have come from Seoul or Sydney, London or Los Angeles, you are welcome exactly as you are: no Mandarin, no experience, no fuss.

How we work

  • Masters, not actors. Every host genuinely practises their craft in Beijing.
  • Small groups. Capped at 8–10 so it stays personal and hands-on.
  • Hosted in English. Designed end-to-end for international visitors.
  • Booked your way. Reserve direct, or through the platforms you already trust — instant confirmation, free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
