Morning Qigong & Tai Chi in Beijing
五禽戲 · 八段錦晨練
Greet the day with the city — gentle qigong in a Beijing park.
Every morning, Beijing’s parks fill with people moving slowly through the air — practising qigong and tai chi before the city wakes. It is the most authentic daily ritual the capital has, and almost no visitor sees it.
Join a local teacher for a gentle, beginner-friendly session of Baduanjin (the “eight pieces of brocade”) and the Five Animal Frolics — flowing, low-impact movements designed to wake the body and settle the mind. You move at your own pace among locals doing exactly the same thing.
No fitness level or experience required. You leave loose, calm and quietly proud — and with a short routine you can carry home and keep.
